Jeremy reported updates to the 3rd Lecture Series of the year. As previously reported, the date is set for Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 10am – 12pm. Location is the Brinker Room at St Eugene’s Becker Center on Montgomery Drive in Santa Rosa.

The lecture panel topic is “Earliest Santa Rosa – Indian/Spanish” with Gaye Lebaron agreeing to be the moderator. Jeremy is continuing to work out the minor details of the event (i.e. janitorial, working with Eric Stanley from the Museum etc)
Also confirmed was the price of admission: $10 general admission/$8 for Historical Society members and $7 seniors/students

Last lecture of the 2008 series will be in November with guest lecture Peter Golis from the Press Democrat. More details to come at future meetings.

Old Business:

Annual Walk: Due to the California fires emitting smoke/ash in the county, Jeff reported a number of walkers cancelled the event. Unfortunately, the walk ended up being over budget by $1100.00. Jeff asked for an additional person to assist with the walk and the P.R. end of the planning for next years walk. (A big thank you to Sean for his help on this year’s walk!)

Next year’s walk is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2009. More details to come in the coming months.

CMC Snapshot Project:  Tony handed out the proposed schedule for the CMC “snapshot” of the Sonoma County Historical Society. Two Tuesdays – August 5th and 12th are the scheduled dates with Tony, Jeremy and Harry having speaking roles. Ron, Phyllis, and Jeff will be on hand as “extras”

Picnic:  Tentative date is set for Sunday, September 7, 2008 – time and place TBA

New Business:

Collection Committee for Sonoma County Museum: Tony has been busy on the committee to assess and inventory the collections accumulated by the Sonoma County Museum. The committee will be going through the collections to assess what is valuable and what to keep.

Harry shared a photo of Olompoli Park taken back in the 1800’s.
