Members were encouraged to mull over the idea – plenty of time to decide.
Cemetarian Report:
Jeremy presented $49 received in donations towards the Cemetery Fund he received from the Rosie Tour presented the evening before. The subject of this particular Rosie Tour presented by the City of Santa Rosa was “Tour of Chanate”. It was a success with approximately 96 head count for the tour.
A formal denial letter from G K Hardt Trust was received regarding the funding request for the markers at the Chanate Historic Cemetery. Jeremy plans to ask the County (and include the City of Santa Rosa) about the likelihood of making the Chanate Cemetery a Sonoma County historical landmark. Guy suggested turning to the Oddfellows Organization for assistance. Jeremy will follow up with the idea.
Jeremy also mentioned his plans to author a trilogy - the first book titled “Potter’s Field” about the story of the Chanate Cemetery to include biographies on some of the people resting there.

One mention was possibly having Carol Dodge from the Jack London State Park to lecture on Sonoma County’s famous author. All were encouraged to keep the ideas coming!

Also included in her suggestion was an incentive for local educators – 3 month extension on their membership for every student of theirs who become a member. Jeff second the motion. Unanimously approved.
Another idea for membership was proposed by Lee – board members are to be allowed to “gift” to one family member or friend a membership to the historical society. Jeff second the motion. Unanimously approved.
