Call to Order:             Tony called meeting to order.
 
Board Members Present:      Jeremy Nichols, Tony Hoskins, Jeff Tobes, Susan Burns, Harry Lapham, Lee Torliatt, Phyllis Schmitt, Sean Bressie, Ron Davis and Kathy Fitzpatrick
Guest – Eric Stanley from the Sonoma County Museum
 
Minutes:  Minutes of the April Meeting were accepted.
 
Treasurer’s Report:
Jeff reported 53 people are currently signed up for the 25 mile San Francisco walk. Jeff is seeking volunteers to help out the day prior to the walk. If you can spare sometime to help out, let Jeff know
            Kathy forwarded a rough draft of the courtesy membership letter to be sent to the local schools history department staff. Jeff will have Susan transfer to official letterhead to be mailed out to educators on the list.
 
Membership Report:
Susan reported _____ (?) delinquent members past due since 2003. She will be sending out renewal letters in effort to get them back on the membership roster.
 
 
Archivist’s Report: 
Lee reported a request was received from a gentleman in Colorado requesting a “coffee table” book regarding Sonoma County/Bodega Bay area.
            Lee also shared his experience at the site of the Octagon Barn (built in 1892) near Windsor.
 
Cemetarian Report:
Jeremy reported the Chanate Cemetery is included on the “Tour of Chanate” for the upcoming “Rosie Tours” presented by the City of Santa Rosa on June 27, 2007. The tour will be done aboard Rosie the Trolley (leaves from the Barnes & Nobles area). Two tours will be available – 6pm and 7pm.
 
Journal Report:
Lee has numerous ideas for upcoming Historians. If anyone has an idea or story topic for future journals, please let Lee know.
            Upgrades to the quarterly journal were discussed such as adding 4 more pages and clarification of the scanned pictures used with the stories were specific areas felt could be upgraded.
 
 
Lecture Series:
Jeremy reported the speaker for our first lecture series this coming November will be Dr Randal Milliken, an anthropologist on staff at UC Davis. The topic will be the Carrillo Adobe. Dr Milliken was part of the study on the Carrillo Adobe and has also authored a book on tribal culture. The lecture will be held at the Sonoma County Museum with doors opening at 6:30pm with the  lecture starting at 7pm. Eric from the museum graciously offered to assist in the promotion of the lecture series through the mailings from the Museum.
 
Committee Reports:
 
Website:
Sean reported he had located a postcard service online to help promote the new lecture series. The information was forwarded to Jeremy.
            Also to be incorporated on the website by Sean is the Sturgeon’s Mill newsletter along with piece on the Santa Rosa Rose Parade
 
Heritage Network Meeting:
Harry Lapham reported the next meeting will be July 14, 2007.  No location has yet been found for the meeting. Tony offered to check on the availability of the Sonoma County library for the meeting as a possibility.
            Harry also announced June Smith was retiring from the Heritage Network secretary duties. Susan graciously volunteered to assume the secretary position on the board.
 
Old Business:
 
Upcoming Fundraiser:
Tony reported the upcoming Mac Murray Ranch Fundraiser for SCHS has been set for the 23rd of September. Ticket prices yet to be determined. Tony also announced the Preservation Award would be presented at the fundraiser.
 
New Business:
 
Honorarium - discussion was held for the honorarium amount to be given to the guest speakers for the SCHS lecture series. Lee moved an amount of $250.00. Phyllis 2nd the motion. Unanimously approved.
 
SCHS Gift – Sean suggested a gift donation of $100 from the SCHS to the Sturgeon’s Mill Restoration Project. Harry 2nd the motion. Unanimously approved. Sean also suggested the SCHS should actively support the restoration project. A flyer for the future dates (July 18-29 and September 29-30) when the Mill will be open to the public will be created and distributed by Susan.
 
Annual Photo Grant – Tony announced completing for the 5th year the grant ($25,378) for the continued building of the photo collection. More details to come.
 
Family Picnic – Harry announced a family picnic is scheduled at the Lapham family ranch in Occidental on July 15th. Invites for all board members will be forthcoming.
