SONOMA COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Board Meeting Minutes, Oct. 26, 2006

Meeting was held at the Sonoma County Library Annex.

Members present:
Tony Hoskins, Harry Lapham, Jeremy Nichols, John Schubert, Lee Torliatt, Ron Davis, Sean Bressie, Phyllis Schmitt and Jeff Tobes.

Treasurer Jeff Tobes reported he was recovering from whatever ailment he had and the treasury remained healthy, both in terms of the time account and the Exchange Bank account.

Archivist Lee Torliatt said he went to the Petaluma Restaurant in New York City, discovering a very good restaurant which was happy to give complimentary desserts to Petalumans who had the chutzpah to claim they were from Petaluma. Lee promised to send them some copies of the Historian with Petaluma themes in the hopes they might put up a "Petaluma wall" on the premises.

Cemeterian Jeremy Nichols said the county hospital painting might be ready in November. More than 1,000 graves have been found at the Chanate Cemetery, and Jeremy is looking for help from the Boy Scouts or some similar organization to make markers. He also said part of a tombstone, possibly belonging to Chinese community leader Tom Wing Wong, had been found.

It was noted that secretary Roberta Harlan had been called out of town by an illness in the family.

Annual Luncheon is scheduled for Sat. Mar. 24, 2007, at the Fountaingrove Golf Club, same site as last year. Look for further information on the website, in the Historian or in a flyer before the event.

Next Board meeting: A dinner meeting, it is hoped, at the new Union Hotel on Mission Boulevard (between Montgomery and 4th St.) on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 6 p.m.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
