| the preservation of historic structures, the fragile and irreplaceable reminders of our past, that would otherwise not be saved for future generations | |
| the publication of unique books and articles about regional history | |
| efforts with other historical societies, museums, and libraries in the county to share resources and work towards preservation of our regional heritage | |

| The Journal | The Society's quarterly Journal, explores Sonoma County history and offers photographs, book reviews, local museum notes and news of upcoming events of interest to members. It chronicles the society's ongoing efforts to preserve historic sites and provides a forum for discussion on historic personalities, events, and eras. |
| Publishing | The SCHS publishes monographs and books on the history of the region. |
| Annual Events | The SCHS hosts an Annual Banquet and an Annual Picnic. |

| Preservation of Historic Sites | The SCHS lobbies state and local governments to save historic structures. From letter writing to local organizing, we are in the forefront of historic preservation and were instrumental in saving the Rosenberg's Department Store building in Santa Rosa. |
| The Sonoma County Historical Society is a non-profit organization. Dues and contributions are taxable to the extent allowable by law. | |
