Subject: Historical Society Awards

Hi All,

My name is Chenchuan Lu, Yiren and Yanran's father. I have talked to some of you in past. Thank you very much for the inviting our family to Historical Society luncheon. We are very grateful about the awards given by Society to Yiren and Yanran. It means a great deal to them. Yanran (the younger one) had been studding local Chinese American history for a while. Recently she wrote two essays on the topic and they were published on "The Community Voice" which serves Rohnert Park, Cotati and Penngrove. You can take a look at the articles "The Story of Santa Rosa's 'Lost' Chinatown" Part 1 and 2 with following URL.

Yiren and Yanran write a bi-weekly teen column for "The Community Voice". Topics vary as long as the are somehow related to teen.

It will be great if Society's website can have a link to the Yanran's articles. More people will be able to find them.

I would also like to express our gratitude for Society's generous support for History Day event. Without your encouragement and support, History Day in Sonoma county could be dead a long time ago.

Yiren (the older one) will participate California History day state finals. Her essay this year is "John Marshell: shaping the conflicts between federal and state powers". Sorry, it is not a local history. She wanted to write something that is more academic. I enclosed the essay as an attachment. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Regards, Chenchuan Lu
