The 11th Annual Sonoma County 20 Mile Historical Walk in San Francisco commemorating the anniversary of the Panama-Pacific International Expo is June 6, 2015

FILL OUT YOUR ENROLLMENT FORM TODAY!

So far we have a total of 23 official walkers for June 6th. Please spread the word to family, friends, coworkers and whoever else you can think of who might enjoy walking with us.

We're sending this update now because we need to get a better count by the beginning of April to organize meals, buses etc., so please sit down, go to our website: sonomacountyhistory.org, complete the paperwork (one application per person, please) and mail them to Ray Johnson, as indicated on the enrollment form, along with a check. Thanks!

For those of you living nearer to Petaluma than Coddingtown in Santa Rosa, we will be picking up and returning walkers to the Petaluma Farigrounds parking lot. For walkers not taking the bus from Santa Rosa or Petaluma, you can meet us at the north end of the Golden Gate Bridge at 5:30 AM. Parking is available there. Please indicate on your enrollment if you want to be picked up in Petaluma or meet us at the bridge. We will need this information to properly account for everyone.

I want to remind you that Jeff Tobes will be leading an eight hour final preparatory walk on May 23rd, rain or shine. Interested walkers will meet at 7:45 AM at the Coddingtown Library and will return at 4:00 PM. Bring your own lunch or $5-$10 for a pizza lunch, and a water bottle.

Please take the time to prepare for the walk by starting to walk now. We have 11 weeks left until the San Francisco walk. Walking daily, beginning at 30 minute walks, is a good place to start. Then you can increase your daily walks to 45 - 60 minutes a day. On the weekends or when you have time you should take longer walks increasing your time and mileage as we get nearer to the San Francisco walk date. If you put in the time to condition yourself for the walk, you will not only be getting good exercise, but will be able to enjoy the walk day more because you are in great shape. I will be encouraging everyone to "WALK" prior to the big day with each update, so get started as soon as possible.
